you were born in new york but your roots are in puerto rico. which influence has latin music on your style in house music? |

my influence comes from all over the world, some how and some way i kind of mixed it all in and my groove was born :-) |

in 1998 you found groove on productions. why did you found your label exactly then and not for example earlier – you have had your first vinyl release already in 1989? |

george morel: |
because before that time, i was building strictly rhythm records and working with c & c music factory plus learning how to make it into a long lasting business. by the way there will be lots of new productions coming this winter form george morel and from groove on records. |

your productions have been honoured with several golden, also platinum record awards and others as well. what do awards mean to you? |

it’s hard to put it in words but it does make me feel good and very honoured to have an reward on my work that will last a life time... in other words it feels that i’m doing something correct. |

from 1992 on you have worked for serveral years for the label strictly rhythm records. what did you do there and which influence did this have on your career as a musician? |

i just did what came to me and simply did what i think it’s right.
everything fell into place on it’s own, but my biggest secret is that i did not notice what i did until years later and still to today i still see all the influences that came from that label that started as for the love of music. only because i did what i love to do my musical influences just came with it. |

you have worked together with so many artists suchs as felix da housecat, mariah carey, erick morillo, dj pierre, barbara tucker and so on. which traits of character do you appreciate on a studio partner, so that your cooperation works really good? |

first of all they have to leave the ego at the door then is like been on a first date or having a very good sex partner, enjoy and have fun with it. the rest will come together. but if is not fun and you cannot enjoy than nothing good comes out of it.

you have made countless remixes. how do you choose which tracks you will remix? |

i just try to make the best of every track. some times is hard to do i remix because i feel the track does not need a remix. is great as it is. |

for a couple of years you have been quite active on ibiza establishing your clubnight. what do you like about ibiza and what do you dislike about the party-island? |

george morel: |
i love how people just come with so much energy and loose it as soon as they get off the plane. no one cares about anything other than having a great time in ibiza in any way that they want. as far as dislike, the prices of the night clubs have gotten crazy high for everyone to enjoy every night while they there. |

you have started djing when you were 13 years old. until now twenty years have passed since then. do you ever feel old when you play for much younger people in a club or does it keep you young? |

george morel: |
at times when i see some of the new influences on the new style of music and notice is just noise with no real musical elements or a drop of feeling, that makes me wonder but other than that i will be djing and producing until i can’t get up from my death bed. even if i have to come on a wheelchair at 100 years old i will still be do in it.

for a lot of years you’ve been very successful in djing, producing and with your label groove on. which aims do you have for your career and for yourself? |

my new aim is to have new productions out every months and see what happens after that.
