you've lived in amsterdam for a while and then returned to live in los angeles. why did you decide to spend some time in europe? how did this influence your music and yourself?
eddie amador: |
most of the gigs i play are in europe. los angeles right now is completely hip-hop. living in amsterdam was great because i could play every weekend and not have to spend 28 hours in airplane travel. also, house music and the energy of the clubs in europe are much more energetic. it is so cool to hear your own house productions on fm radio during the day in europe. that experience does not happen anymore in la.

you know the electronic music scenes of the us as well as europe's. what are in your eyes the main differences and similarities in music and clubs on the two continents?
eddie amador: |
the similarities are that we are all using computers! we all share a lot of the common software and virtual instruments. the main differences are in how the artists use them. for example when i play in south america the electronic music i play and receive as demos is normally more tribal house. in amsterdam it was more funky house. in berlin i received more minimal house. so many flavors!

while living abroad you have found the label mochicoprimo! records. what's the idea behind it?
eddie amador: |
mochicoprimo! is my "boutique" label that puts out music that talented artists have submitted. also sometimes i will develop a track on it. it is distributed through beatport who also sponsors my fm mixshow "miximized" that is on the radio in the usa and argentina. |

you became famous quite fast in 1998 with the the track “house music”. did this suddenly change your life? did you feel a big pressure on you to prove that you're not a one-hit-wonder? |
eddie amador: |
oh yes i did! house music was my first record! it took me about 8 months after touring immidietly all around europe to make the folow up "rise". thank god it was also successful! |

within the last couple of years you have released only one 12” every year. and you have produced a much bigger number of remixes for other artists. why is that? |
eddie amador: |
deepdish own my name as an artist and they are not cool to work with. very difficult and limiting. |
