shortly your new album "kind of human" has been released. did you have a concept or an idea to guide you while producing it? |
dousk: |
strangely enough i did. it wasn't an absolute focus, i just wanted it to sound less atmospheric and moody than the first one. |

to get some live instrumentation into six of the new tracks you worked together with the greek band flakes. why did you decide to do so and how can we picture you working with flakes?
dousk: |
i used to work often with bands in projects other than my usual name, so i figured it would be nice to get some of that into the new album. keep things a bit more interesting and of course, organic.
about half of these recordings were done at my place while relaxing and drinking ungodly amounts of beer. it was mostly the other guys though, i usually get knocked out at the third one :)
for some of the material it required the use of a proper studio so apart from making jokes it wasn't that fun! |

the tracks on "kind of human" show influence from a lot genres. how did your style develop? |
dousk: |
there is good music on every genre out there and i think it would be wise for any musician to open his/her ears and embrace new ideas and sonic flavors. in that sense i strive to have an everdeveloping style.

how differs "kind of human" from your first album "d.i.y." released on klik recordings three years ago? |
dousk: |
the tracks are a lot shorter, more to the point. i tried to keep the sound sort of neutral, meaning it could either give you a positive or a negative vibe depending on your mood. there is no ominous or super-serious content in there and that by itself helped me relax while composing, letting me create something alot more honest sounding.

you can profit by your classic music studies that you finished in 1999. how does this knowledge influence your music or the way you produce? |
dousk: |
it's not something i use all the time, far from it actually. but sometimes when you are stuck it's a really great source and 'toolbox' to draw ideas from. |

furthermore you have also experience in producing tv and radio ads. how differs this from electronic music production in the way you approach it? |
dousk: |
with targetted music, you have a message to deliver and not a lot of time to do it.
with artstuff you can go all day and noone will complain about that 54 minute progessive space rock anthem you just did. just dont expect to get any radio airplay... unless it's beeing played on progressive space rock fm… |

what is in your eyes special about the greek electronic music scene? |
dousk: |
there are so few of us, so each and everyone counts haha.. on a more serious note
the only special thing about making electronic music in greece, is that roughly 95 percent of the population don't even know what the hell you are doing. |

what can we expect from you in the near future and what are your long-term aims? |
dousk: |
there will be at least a couple remixes from me and others on the album. the pure dance productions are still going full force and they will continue to do so for a while.
i’m also starting a second name (sorry cant tell you - it's a secret) which is going to be more techno oriented. this is something i always wanted to do and the time is ripe so here we go! |
