laseo: the ‘forerunner of mediterranean techno’

mediterranean techno, co-founded by laseo from hamburg, germany, represents the “harder” side of electronic music that is influenced by a combination of tribal grooves of the balearic islands located in the mediterranean sea and industrial, german sounds.
laseo began his career as a disc jockey (dj) more than 15 years ago. “laseo,” originates from a balearic cathedral in mallorca, one of the balearic islands, which is his favorite. interestingly, he has spun music in mallorca with the founders of the mediterranean dance sound, djs reche and marco carola. with their influence and the help of dj mauro picotto, he has been recognized as the “forerunner of mediterranean techno” by the world’s largest clubbing and dance music magazine, mixmag.
laseo first became inspired by music around the age of 10; he listened to the beatles, supertramp, and other well-known rock and pop bands. at the beginning of his career, he played in a genre called “chicago house” and then moved to soul and hip-hop in the ‘90s. he has also played at germany’s first “acid jazz” club, beat box; acid jazz is a genre that combines jazz with elements of disco, funk and soul music. he became more successful as the years went on; his most recent tour 2006 began the first weekend of february 2006 and included visits to stockholm and göteborg in sweden. he will continue the tour throughout europe in 2006 and is open to schedule dates in the united states.
his most memorable experience brings him back to 2004 when he played in front of 30,000 people at the loveparade in berlin, germany, an annual electronic music festival with a parade, focused on diversity. “the people went crazy and started to scream when i bumped in the first groove!” he said. “in germany, especially in my hometown, hamburg, my unconventional mediterranean deep sound is quite unique.”
when he’s not playing music, he still loves to entertain; he enjoys cooking for his friends and family. he also loves to travel to different cities and get to know new people and their culture, something he’s fortunate enough to experience through his music career.
