brinkmann has been experimenting with locked and scratched-groove records since the 70's, with mike ink's studio 1 singles series inspiring him to begin recording seriously.

brinkmann debuted his own productions with the founding of the ernst label, releasing several singles of sharply defined minimalist dub-techno. he launched two other labels: max and w.v.b./soul center which he also released on mute. in total thomas has had well over 40 vinyl releases and 12 full length albums.thomas has played all over the world in clubs, at festivals, and art events, contributing to the electronic music scene in countless different ways.
